According to statistics provided by the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, in the first month of 1404, the country’s automotive industry experienced a slight growth in passenger car production; however, at the same time, a significant decrease in the production of pickup trucks and fluctuations in performance among different production sectors indicate a not-so-balanced start to the year for this industry.
According to ISNA, according to the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade’s statistical report on the aggregated statistics for the month of Farvardin, in the first month of 1404, a total of 60,470 vehicles of all types were produced, which is a two percent decrease compared to the production statistics for February last year (equivalent to 61,708 vehicles of all types).
Of this number of vehicles produced, 56,191 passenger cars were produced, accounting for 92.9% of the total, which is a 5.3% increase compared to the 53,339 units produced in February 1403.
During the aforementioned period this year, 3,197 pickup trucks were produced in the country, with a share of 5.3 percent, which is a decrease of over 57 percent compared to February last year. During February last year, 7,454 pickup trucks were produced in the country.
Of the total passenger cars produced in the country in the first month of 1404, 44,315 passenger cars (Iran Khodro and Saipa) were produced. Also, 11,876 assembled passenger cars were produced in the country during the said period this year. The total production of passenger cars by the two domestic automakers in February last year was recorded at 42,939 units, and the production of assembled cars was 10,400 units.
Of these 44,315 domestically produced passenger cars, Iran Khodro’s share in the production is 28,801 units and Saipa’s share is 15,514 units. Iran Khodro has achieved a 20.7 percent growth compared to 23,863 units produced last year, but Saipa has faced an 18.7 percent decline compared to 19,077 passenger cars produced in February 1403.
In April of this year, Iran Khodro produced 356 pickup trucks, a 71.2% drop, and Saipa produced 2,766 pickup trucks, a 55.3% drop.
The largest share of the production of the Iran Khodro Industrial Group, which is currently managed by the private sector, belongs to the Peugeot family of products, although the production of the Peugeot 207 decreased by 15.4 percent compared to last year to 9,140 units. In contrast, the production of the Soren more than doubled to 7,828 units and the production of the Dena increased by 11 percent to 5,349 units. The production of the Tara also increased by 96.4 percent to 4,670 units. Rana did not produce any products this month.
In the products of the Saipa Automotive Group, the X200 family, including Tiba, Quick, and Saina, decreased by 16.6 percent to 9,070 units. Shahin production also decreased by 40 percent to 1968 units.
In the products of Pars Khodro Group, as a subsidiary of Saipa, in Farvardin 1404, it succeeded in producing 4,420 passenger cars, which is a 9.3 percent decrease compared to 4,873 units in the same period last year. The production of the Q200 group decreased by 21 percent to 3,847 units, and the production of Sahand vehicles also increased significantly from only two units last year to 573 units in Farvardin this year. Saipa, the X200 family including Tiba, Quick and Saina, decreased by 16.6 percent to 9,070 units. Shahin production also decreased by 40 percent to 1968 units.
